4. Pet care purchase frequency ranked # 10 in grocery, # 1 in Mass, # 3 in dollar stores
5. Out of 126 categories in pet care category ranked # 2 in per capita spending $ 214/yr
6. 75% of households purchased pet care product
7. Pet food is purchased 17 times a year
8. Pet care sales rank # 7 in the top 10 categories in Mass/Grocery/Drug
9. Pet care sales more fragmented across formats ( Grocery, Mass, Specialty, others)
10. Food is the largest segment in pet care and the fastest growing
11. Dog food 67%, cat food 33% of total pet food sales
12. In cat food portfolio, dry cat food was 55%, wet 38% and treat was 7%
13. In dry dog food portfolio, dry dog was 66%, wet 16, treats 18%
