Hello everyone, I am new to this site, but I am in need of a contact or interested manufacturer to help assist us in putting together a manufacturing facility for a fee or partnership. Additionally we are in need of formulas and process integration; we are willing to pay franchise, licensing fees or share in profit under contract. We are currently in the beginning stages of construction for a manufacturing center in RU. The market there is worth $1.5b and growing. Need any help I can get or contacts, I prefer to work with a US manufacturer or company. Please contact me on me gmail account at chernolikhov@gmail.com with any information or help you think I can get. Thanks in advance!

Welcome, Brett. Whether to use meat meals or fresh meat really depends on what the manufacturer wants to market--e.g., premium or superpremium diet, a certain type or shape of kibble, the moisture content, etc. The Pet Food Institute has a brief overview of the extrusion process on its site. We have also published several articles in the past in Petfood Industry that might help; see "Controlling ingredient interactions."

Why must it seem like dry foods must have meals but some can use fresh meats? Can some describe the process of making dry food.

Last week Pulse Canada assembled an extrusion workshop for feed industry professionals in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. A number of guest speakers were assembled to highlight nutrition and market analysis as well as a hands on period to extrude diets with and without peas and look at functional attributes of the finished product. If you see a benefit to your individual organization or to the pet food industry as a whole and know of an event at which something like this could be held, please let me know and I would be happy to look at the feasibility of hosting such an event.

Good morning. I have recently posted on white paper through the pet-food forum that highlights some research that was completed recently on the extrusion characteristics of pea fractions in dog food. I hope that it might be of benefit to those looking to capitalize on the benefits of peas while understanding how it will effect the final product.

I want to introduce myself to this group. I have been in the pet food industry for along time. My expertise is in the creation, development of highly palatable pet foods through extrusion and non extrusion technologies. My significant strength is in cat palatability. Some of my creations are out there in the market- Most recently I created and helped to launch Friskies Party Mix( best palatable dry cat treat),
