Does your company have a Facebook page and Twitter account? If you're wondering whether your organization should take the social media plunge--or if you're using these platforms as effectively as possible--one tactic is to track what other petfood manufacturers are doing.
You can start by following Petfood Industry on Twitter and becoming a fan on Facebook; people from other petfood companies have done the same, so you can see them in both places.
There are also helpful lists on Twitter, such as this one from @shadowmice with tweets from petfood companies.
Some of the companies that are very active in social media include:
* Halo, Purely for Pets, with over 17,500 followers on Twitter;
* Nature's Variety, with over 3,300 people who like its Facebook page; and
* Eagle Pack, with more than 1,200 followers and a growing number of lists following it on Twitter.
